Jonathan got tickets to the U.S. Open in New York for last Thursday. He was going to meet some friends who work up there and then he got sick so he decided not to go. On Thursday morning he woke up feeling better so we decided we'd all head up to New York for the day, since he had the day off anyway.
We decided we'd better see the Statue of Liberty up close before we move.
Waiting at Ellis Island (we didn't have time to go in and look around)
When we first got on the boat Kirsten said she was really nervous. We couldn't figure out why because she's been on boats before. So as we're getting closer to "the statue". Kirsten asked me if the statue was going to have a scary face like this...
I guess that's why she was nervous.
We finally arrived in Queens at the U.S. Open. Jonathan just went in by himself first. I looked on the little U.S. Open map before we got there and it looked like the zoo was right across the street. So I thought it would be a great idea to take the kids there while Jonathan was in watching. When we got there I saw that, yeah it was just across the street, just across the highway to be exact. So we just hung out at this big fountain. Kirsten and Colton both loved this.
Then Kirsten and I went in. We saw Federer play Muller. I've never been to a tennis match and didn't realize that it was such a classy sport. We looked pretty ridiculous bringing in a little girl with Cheetos and fruit punch all down the front of her shirt. It was pretty awesome anyway.
