Kiki

Alright, I have to record some of the recent things Kirsten's done, for posterity...

Kirsten has always hated putting her face in the pool and has been scared of jumping into the pool unless you're right there to catch her. Well, last night we went over to a friend's house to swim. She put on her little life jacket and reluctantly jumped to me in the pool. She progressively got more and more brave throughout the night. She was jumping in without any help, and then she jumped off the diving board! She went off the slide by herself. By the end of the night she wouldn't even ask us to watch her before jumping off the diving board or sliding down the slide. At one moment she dramatically said to me, "I am going to be awesome brave." So she went up to the diving board and turned around to do a back dive, she changed her mind last minute, but it was a good thought.

A couple of weeks ago we were all playing. Kirsten loves to play chase. So we were chasing Jonathan around trying to tickle him when I got bowled over by Jonathan, so I was dramatically lying on the floor while Kirsten continued to chase Jonathan. When she saw that it was just her, she yelled out, "It's just me and the old man".

Rockhounds Game

We went to the local baseball team's game a couple weeks ago.

It was a company picnic for Jonathan so there were games and free food.

Happy 4th of July

I love long weekends...

Kirsten and I started it with a tea party with real hot chocolate. Kirsten was the queen and was just in heaven pouring me "tea" and putting the marshmallows and chocolate chips in it.

We decided since Jonathan had Thursday and Friday off that we'd hit the road and head out to Carlsbad Caverns.

The caves were 750 feet below us

And they were so cool. It was seriously huge. I've never seen anything like it.

Kirsten was so interested in everything. She kept saying how cool it was.

but the walk around the caves was over a mile and about half way through she got a little crazy and wanted to be held the rest of the way.

Colton was very intrigued with everything too.

Of course the best part of the trip, for Kirsten, was staying at a hotel. I don't know what it is but it's like the greatest day ever if Kirsten gets to stay in a hotel.
So, we went swimming. As you can see Colton likes to swim a little. He's at that age that he has no fear. So he would back into the pool like he was backing down stairs. He only went under once and he thought that was pretty funny.

The next day we went to the Guadalupe Mountains. This is the highest point in Texas. Pretty exciting...

And yes, Kirsten is wearing the same dress she wore the day before. In our hurry to leave we totally forgot Kirsten's suitcase...pretty ridiculous.

We had a great time on our little trip. I love road trips.

We got home Friday night, in time for the 4th of July festivities. We woke up early for a breakfast at the church. And then got lots of relaxation time during the day.
Kirsten knew we were going to our friends house that night for a bbq and swimming and so about 2 hours before we were supposed to leave she looked like this...

Unfortunately, this is what it looked like about 1 1/2 before we were to leave.

Luckily, it cleared up on our way over so Kirsten was able to get her swimming in.
Jonathan and I were so proud of Kirsten. She is a little nervous in the water and she actually went down the slide!

And again Colton had a blast in the pool with Daddy.

Seriously a great weekend.

Rachel and her kids came out to Tulsa right after we got back. So I stayed with the kids so we could hang out for a while.
I hadn't seen Benjamin in years and have never seen Maggie, so it was so fun to see everyone.
Kirsten and Benjamin had so much fun playing together.

Kirsten wanted to go over to Rachel's house everyday as soon as she woke up. We had so much fun hanging out together, it was just like old times only with a couple more kids.

And then it was time to go home...
I drove the kids home myself and was super worried about how I was going to handle 8 1/2 hours by myself with 2 kids.
I gave Kirsten my camera and that kept her entertained for at least an hour. She was in the back seat cracking up at the pictures she was taking. I think she took about 50 pictures, here's a sampling...

We were all SO excited to get back to Daddy.

By the way, while we were gone Colton got really good at walking

And yes Kirsten took these pictures too
